1963 - Manfred Mann played their first-ever show in London

1968 - Otis Redding received a posthumous gold record for “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay.”

1970 - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young picked up the Grammy for Best New Artists.

1977 - Billy Idol’s band Generation X performed a gig at England’s Leicester University. The show ended in violence as a glass was smashed over bassist Bob Andrew’s head. 

1997 - England’s Queen Elizabeth II knighted Paul McCartney.

2003 - AC/DC performed a concert at New York’s Roseland Ballroom to celebrate their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

2006 - Drummer Johnny Jackson of The Jackson 5 was found stabbed to death at his home in Gary, Indiana . A cousin of the Jackson family, Johnny performed with the group’s live band. He was 54.
